Watertown Fire Log: June 13 to June 19

A car fire, a sewer line break and a woman was hit while riding her bike.

Incidents June 15, 1:29 p.m.: A boy got a toy ring stuck on his finger. Firefighters went to Union Street and cut it off with a ring cutter. June 16, 3:24 p.m.: A man reported feeling ill after smelling an odor of what he believed to be natural gas. Firefighters could not detect natural gas, but still smelled something. After more investigation, they found a cracked sewer line in the basement, and the fumes had entered the building through the air conditioning system. June 17, 6:52 a.m.: A 2001 Audi caught fire on Clarendon Street. The car was in flames when fire crews arrived, and firefighters extinguished the blaze. The engine was severely damaged, and the owner of the car said he saw smoke coming from under the hood shortly after …

Watertown Fire Log: June 6 to June 13

An exploding transformer caused a fire, a woman overdosed on prescription drugs and a utility pole snapped.

Incidents June 6, 2:55 p.m.: A woman from Coolidge Hill Road overdosed on prescription medicine, and she was taken to hospital by a Belmont ambulance which was assisting the Watertown Fire Department. June 7, 10:52 a.m.: Firefighters responded to a report of power lines down on Elton Avenue. They discovered the wires were for cable and phone, so Comcast and Verizon were called in to deal with it. June 8, 1:42 p.m.: Residents on Channing Road called because they smelled natural gas in the area. Fire crews found that utility workers had caused the leak while installing a utility pole. A safe zone was created and crews investigated further. June 8, 5:28 p.m.: A resident of King Street called to report a fire had been started by oil and butter…

Watertown Fire Log: May 31 to June 6

A man hits a parked semi, a cyclist injures himself, and a girl is bitten by a dog.

Incidents May 31, 5:33 p.m.: Firefighters went to the scene of a three-car accident on Maplewood Street at Winsor Avenue. The occupants of two cars said they had no injury, but one driver was placed on a board and a collar was put on her neck by firefighters and she was taken to Mt. Auburn Hospital. May 31, 8:20 p.m.: Fire crews went to Partridge Street after hearing reports of an outdoor fire. They found the fire was in a metal-clad device designed for fires, but the people who lit the fire did not have a burning permit. They were told to put out the fire. June 2, 5:14 p.m.: A wire fell on Riverside Street. Fire crews found a coaxial cable on the ground, and coiled it up and hung it with caution tape. June 3, 12:24 a.m.: Residents of a …
