Watertown RMV Worker Busted For Bribery, Corruption

The RMV worker will appear in court on Nov. 16.

An employee of the Registry of Motor Vehicles in Watertown was arrested on Nov. 16 on charges of bribery and corruption, according to federal immigration authorities. Adriana Ferreira will appear in Suffolk Superior Court later today on charges of bribery, corruption and larceny, according the federal Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency.  Ferreira, a naturalized U.S. citizen was arrested by State Police detecetives and ICE agents in Watertown.  For up-to-the-minute news on this and other stories follow Watertown Patch on Twitter and Facebook or subscribe to the free email newsletter. Secure Communities Program To Launch Next Week

Program intended to help catch illegal immigrants.

The Secure Communities Program, which would impact illegal immigrants, will go into effect next week in Massachusetts. According to the Boston Globe, the controversial federal program will start on Tuesday, May 15. The program requires law enforcement officers to run finger prints of arrested individuals through an federal databases to determine whether they are in the country illegally. Federal immigration authorities could then arrest the suspect and possibly deport them.
