Watertown Man Wins Top Prize in Mass Audubon Nature Photo Contest

Ken Lee's shot was chosen from more than 2,000 photos to be the grand prize winner in the "Picture This: Your Great Outdoors" contest.

  The following information was provided by Mass Audubon:  Mass Audubon’s annual photo contest, Picture This: Your Great Outdoors, attracted photographers from across the state and beyond who entered more than 2,000 images—each one an invitation to connect with the nature of Massachusetts.  The Grand Prize winner was Ken Lee of Watertown, who won for his striking photograph of a sandhill crane taken near Mass Audubon’s Rough Meadows Wildlife Sanctuary in Rowley. The third-annual contest produced remarkable photographs that revealed the immeasurable beauty of the Bay State, from children exploring the shore and birds both in flight and at rest, to sun-dappled trees and pristine waterways half-hidden by lush vegetation.  Lee’s photo was …

Photographer Welcomes Spring at the Senior Center

Carole Smith Berney will share her pictures of the Chalres River and wildlife on March 28.

Photographer and naturalist Carole Smith Berney will share her wildlife and nature photos when she visits the Watertown Senior Center on March 28 at 9:30 a.m. The Watertown resident will take the audience on an armchair tour of the Charles River as we welcome spring. Light refreshments will be served so please pre-register for this program by calling the Senior Center at 617-972-6490. The program is made possible due to a generous grant from the Watertown Community Foundation.
