State Police: 18-year-old Man killed while crossing 128 in Newton

State Police release new details in the crash this morning, which caused a backup in traffic along 128 and The Mass. Pike.

  A pedestrian was struck and killed on Route 128 this morning near the Newton rest area, between Route 16 and Grove Street. He was in the median strip, and may have been struck while trying to cross the highway around 6:30 a.m. Just after 6:30 a.m. this morning, State Police say an 18-year-old man was killed while crossing Rte. 128 on foot. According to a press release just sent, he was hit by the car on the sorthbound side of the highway, and was thrown across the median onto the southbound side of the road, where he was hit by another vehicle. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police say they are notifying his next-of-kin.  The accident backed up traffic on Rte. 128 and on the Mass. Pike. Below is the full press release from the Mass…

FIRE REPORT: Two Pedestrians Hit by Cars, A Bicyclist Runs Into a Car

The Watertown Fire Department was busy with accidents involving pedestrians and cyclists.

It was a bad week for pedestrians and cyclists, as three were involved in accidents with cars in Watertown. On June 11 at 8:39 a.m., a woman in her 60s was hit in the crosswalk on Cross Street, at Main Street. She suffered a nose bleed, and rescue workers placed her on a board and collared her neck before taking her to Mount Auburn Hospital, according to the Watertown Fire log. At 7:21 p.m. on the same day,emergency personnel were called to Tedeschi on Main Street for an accident between a bicycle and a car. The cyclist struck the car, which was turning left into the Tedeschi parking lot, and he suffered a left shoulder injury, according to the Fire log. He was taken to Mount Auburn Hospital. New Hampshire Man Killed in Newton Pedestrian Crash

Accident happened Sunday Morning on Nonantum Road.

A 22-year-old man was killed Sunday morning when he was struck by a vehicle on Nonantum Road, according to State Police.  The victim, identified as Dennis Cassagrande, 22, of Rochester, N.H., was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Boston where he was pronounced, according to State Police. The victim lived in Rochester, New Hampshire. The incident happened around 3:18 a.m. when State Police responded to an accident on Nonantum Road near Charlesbank Road. A 21-year-old Mendon man was driving the 1999 Ford pickup that struck the victim. The driver was not injured.  State Police Collision Anaylsis and Reconstruction teams and Crime Scene Services are investigating the crash.
