Watertown Police Log: Police Assaulted in Separate Incidents and More

The following arrest information was supplied by the Watertown Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Arrests June 3, 6:27 p.m.: Police were called to a domestic incident on Pleasant Street, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. Joseph N. Zompetti, 44, of 541 Main St. in Hudson, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery. June 3, 7:30 p.m.: A woman was spotted by security taking a Visio TV off the shelf at Target, put it in a carriage and try to return it for cash, Grady said. Sergina Ysaac, 25, of 10 Perthshire Road in Brighton, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting of more than $100. June 3, 8:15 p.m.: Police were called to Salisbury Road for a person causing a disturbance and when an officers tried to subdue a the man he struck one of of the officers, Grady said. Michael P. Bloodied Man Discovered in Street Leads to Arrest of a Boston Man

Watertown Police believe the two had a fight, and arrested one of the men on a separate charge.

Watertown Police encountered a man bloodied in an apparent fight with another man, which ultimately led to the arrest of the second man.  On June 5 at 10:27 p.m., police received reports of a man acting strangely on Arsenal Street. "The male was approaching cars in the street screaming, and appeared to have blood on him," said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady.  When officers spoke to the man, he told them that he had an altercation with another man near the Arsenal Center for the Arts, Grady said.  Police located the second man, identified as Matthew Calvin, of Boston, Grady said.  "He also had remnants of blood on his jeans and appeared to be intoxicated," Grady said.  While police believe the two had a confrontation, Grady said that …

Man Arrested for Stealing Oral Hygiene Items from CVS

The man ran from the store, but Watertown Police tracked him down.

A man tried to take more than $350 of merchandise from CVS on Main Street but was spotted by security. Security at CVS spotted the man taking items and try to leave without paying, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. "The male suspect had placed a number of oral hygiene items worth $367 into a black hand bag," Grady said.  When security tried to stop him he ran from the store. He was located later by police officers on Watertown Street, Grady said. CVS security identified him as the man who stole the items, Grady said. Patrick D. Benson, 23, of 19 Marcy Road  Apt. 1 in Boston, was arrested on a charge of larceny of over $250, Grady said.

Watertown Police Log: Shoplifter Caught with Nearly $400 in Groceries and More

  Arrests May 27, 1:48 p.m.: Security at Stop & Shop on Watertown Street spotted a woman taking items and putting them in shopping bags and then tried to leave with a cart full of groceries without paying, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. She had $375.60 worth of items. Deanna A. Coletti, 26, of 34 Columbia Ave. in Newton, was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by concealment of over $100. May 29, 6:59 a.m.: Police were called to a medical incident in the back of a cab on Mt. Auburn Street and when they arrived the taxi driver said the man had tried to run away without paying a $41 fare from Brookline, Grady said. Man Caught Going Through a Car in Watertown, Arrested

A resident spotted the break-in while taking his garbage out.

Police arrested a Watertown man after a Fifield Street resident spotted him allegedly breaking into his car.  On May 27 at 10:22 p.m., a resident reported the incident, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. Car break-ins had also been reported on the street the previous week. "The resident was bringing his trash out to the curb when he observed a couple of young people," Grady said. "He saw one of them in his car. He confronted them and they fled on foot." Watertown Police officers searched the area and found two men fitting the description of the suspects coming out of Perkins School property onto Beechwood Avenue, Grady said. Woman Arrested for Shoplifting, Gets in More Trouble Back at Watertown Police Station

Woman was arrested at Best Buy for taking a computer.

Watertown Police arrested two women for shoplifting at Best Buy, but the trouble was just starting for one of the suspects. Store security reported a shoplifting in progress at 3:20 p.m. on May 29 and while police were on their way, two women tried to leave the store with a computer for which they had not paid, said Watertown Police Sgt. Thomas Grady. "When they were asked a receipt, they dropped the computer and fled into the parking lot," Grady said. The then got into a white Chevy SUV driven by a man, and the SUV took off down Arsenal Street toward Brighton, Grady said. Watertown Police Log: Mother's Wallet Stolen While Shoe Shopping and More

  Arrests May 21, 10:57 a.m.: A woman got her nails done at Golden Nail Salon in the Watertown Mall and when it was finished she started to walk out of the store without paying, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. An employee asked if she was going to pay, and the customer said she had no money. She went into a bathroom and hid, and meanwhile the police showed up. She told them she had no money and “it was not a big deal,” Lawn said. The officers discovered she had clothes in her bag with the price tags still attached, worth less than $100. Shataye L. Watertown Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges After Domestic Incident

The 26-year-old suspect allegedly choked a woman.

A 26-year-old Watertown man faces attempted murder charges after he allegedly attacked a woman and choked a woman, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. Police were called to Wheeler Lane for a domestic incident at 1:08 a.m. on May 23.  "As a result of a domestic incident, he slammed the victim's head into a radiator and strangled her in the neck with his hands," Lawn said. Scott C. Pearson, 26, of 10 Wheeler Lane in Watertown, was arrested on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and attempted murder by strangulation, Lawn said.

Watertown Police Log: Cars Broken Into, 2 Shoplifters Caught at Stop & Shop

  Arrests May 13, 10:06 a.m.: A man was spotted by store security taking items off the shelves of the natural food aisles at Stop & Shop on Pleasant Street and stuffing them in his jacket, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn. The man was stopped and had $95.94 of merchandise, Lawn said. Wenji Peng, 49, of 9 Broad Moor in Glastonbury, Conn., was arrested on a charge of shoplifting by concealing merchandise. May 13, 7:50 p.m.: Police dealt with a domestic incident on Robert Ford Road, Lawn said. They also found a woman at the address had an arrest warrant in her name. James R. Sturtevant, 41, of 13 Oakley Road in Watertown, was arrested on a charge of domestic assault and battery. Lacey K. Sacca, 35, of 78 Winn St. in Woburn, was arrested…

See How a Landscaper Helped Watertown Police Catch a Car Thief

Police got an assist from an alert landscaper when a suspect made a run for it.

A Watertown Police detective had a car thief in his sights when the suspect made a run for it, but he didn't get far thanks to an alert landscaper.  On May 21 at 11:50 a.m., the detective had been patrolling the area of Chandler Street in Watertown after a series of home break ins. He spotted man driving suspiciously around the area, said Watertown Police Lt. Michael Lawn.  "The car was being operated by a white male who was driving slowly looking around," Lawn said. "He appeared to be casing the neighborhood." The detective ran the registration of the green Honda Civic and discovered it had been stolen from Somerville the previous day.
