Nominated for “Best Original Documentary Music Score” at the International Sound &amp; Music Festival in Croatia, the film highlights both the struggles and positive experiences that came out of the Covid pandemic. Here’s a review of “Growing Through Covid-19” from an Emmy award-winning movie &amp; theater critic:

At 148 years old, through 5 generations, family-owned Russell’s GC has survived many floods, the great depression, the introduction of the big box stores, competition from Amazon &amp; online stores, and the recession of 2008. However, in the Spring of 2020, with the pandemic raging, the family considered closing their doors forever. What happens next is truly inspiring.
The West Newton Cinema opened in 1937. Since 1978 the Theatre has been owned by the Bramante family operating as an independent community theatre showing a broad genre of films including foreign, family and first run.

The Boston Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (BPYO), composed of musicians age 12-21 from the East Coast, performs their final concert of the 2023-24 season under the baton of Founder and Conductor Benjamin Zander. The program opens with Robert Schumann’s Cello Concerto followed by Gustav Mahler’s monumental Symphony No. 5, which will also be performed during the BPYO’s five-city European tour from June 15-25. The concert can be experienced both in-person and via livestream.
Schumann's soul-stirring Cello Concerto features the virtuosic talents of cellist Zlatomir Fung, the youngest cellist ever to win First Prize at the International Tchaikovsky Competition. As Artist-in-Residence with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in the 2023-24 season, Fung has appeared at London’s Cadogan Hall and is touring the UK with the orchestra. The 25-year-old has been hailed as one of the most promising young cellists of his generation: in describing his recital debut at Carnegie Hall in 2021, Bachtrack wrote "[He is] one of those rare musicians with a Midas touch: he quickly envelopes every score he plays in an almost palpable golden aura.” He last appeared with the BPYO in concert in 2022 as soloist on Elgar’s Cello Concerto and toured with the BPYO to Greece in June that year. The Westborough, MA native is a graduate of The Julliard School where he is also currently a faculty member.
Along with Dvořák’s and Elgar’s Cello Concertos, the Schumann is one of the great Romantic works for cello. “Schumann’s Cello Concerto requires an interpreter of the highest order,” says Zander. “Its moods are intimate, soulful, and confessional, almost like chamber music, and its three connected movements are like one long-drawn breath of lyricism that virtually cries out for Zlatomir’s subtlety and communicative power.”
Zander’s profound connection to Mahler's music has earned him significant recognition, including the very first Titan Award from the Mahler Society of New York. His passion for Mahler's compositions infuses every note with a profound sense of meaning and emotion.
Tickets are $75, $45, $20, and $10 for students with code STU-DIS. The live stream is $20 ($10 for students). Live and streaming subscription packages are also available. After actively denying his own trauma for eight years, Ron's life finally fell apart in a crippling heap of anxiety, depression, panic disorder, and agoraphobia in early 1998. While on short-term disability and unable to even leave his house, he was introduced to anapanasati (mindfulness of breathing) and vipassana (mindfulness-based insight meditation), which formed the basis of a profound recovery built on daily practice on and off the cushion.
With backgrounds in social psychology, information technology, and yoga, Ron emphasizes a grounded and methodical results-based approach toward discovering inner freedom. Along with his private practice and corporate events, he hosts ongoing workshops and practice groups in the Boston area.

The Walk for Hunger, Project Bread’s annual fundraising event and the Commonwealth’s largest and oldest day of community action against hunger, is seeking walkers for the celebration. The one-day event is set for Sunday, May 5 on the Boston Common, and will feature family-friendly activities along the 3-mile loop. In its 56th
year, Project Bread invites you to help raise more than $1.3 million to support the leading statewide food security organization’s approach to permanently solve hunger, which includes working year-round across policy initiatives, programs, and hunger prevention measures to ensure food access for all children and families in Massachusetts. 
Likeminded anti-hunger organizations can enroll in the nonprofit’s co-fundraising program, The Commonwealth, forming teams to raise money to support their own work, while also furthering Project Bread’s statewide effort. Have extra seeds? Donate them to the Watertown Free Public Library’s ‘Seed Library’
-	Please label all plants, cuttings and seeds
-	All varieties of live houseplants, outdoor plants, aquatic plants and seeds welcome
-	Try to ensure plants are pest/disease-free
-	Bring a couple of empty pots to take your plants home in
-	All plants and seeds will be offered free-of-charge
Dara Cheek of Wildkraft, LLC will be on-hand to answer your plant care questions and assist with repotting.
-	If you have plants to swap but aren’t certain of their names, check in with Dara at the event
-	There is no guarantee that plants will be pest-free, quarantining new plants from existing ones for two weeks is recommended
-	Looking for a specific plant or seeds? Post in the Watertown/Belmont Plant Exchange swap Facebook event page with your requests!
