Support for Sideris, Falkoff, Corbett, Donohue, and Palomba

To the Editor:

I am writing to support the reelection of Town Council President Mark Sideris and the incumbent Councilors-at-Large Susan Falkoff, Steven Corbett, John Donohue and Tony Palomba.

I have served for four years with these Councilors and I am deeply impressed by their experience, knowledge, skills and dedication to our community.  We all share the same values of moving Watertown forward in ways that are progressive, financially sustainable and serve all our residents—from our children and youth to our veterans and seniors.

I am proud of the work we have done together — the Economic Development and Comprehensive Plans will guide future planning and development; our new trash collection and recycling programs are saving the Town money and we finally have a new recycling center; the Town’s ESCO agreement will substantially improve the energy efficiency of all Town buildings and schools; Victory Field and upgraded recreational facilities throughout the Town are benefiting our schools, youth and adult sports teams and residents; Whitney Hill will be open space in perpetuity; and we continue to implement new technologies to improve efficiency and communications.

We are now engaged in reorganizing the Town Manager’s office and Public Works Department to enhance services to our residents; collaborating with the School Committee and administration to upgrade our school buildings; and working with the state to enhance our river front.

Our Town’s budget is very constrained with the continuing economic downturn and the loss of millions of dollars in tax revenues and state aid.  I know Town Council President Mark Sideris and Councilors-at-Large Susan Falkoff, Steven Corbett, John Donohue and Tony Palomba have the depth of experience and strong commitment needed for Watertown.  I ask you to please consider voting for them on November 5th.
